IEEE Worldwide
IEEE is a worldwide organization whose objective is technological development for the benefit of humanity and is present both in companies and universities.
IEEE was founded in 1963 by a group of researchers focused on innovation in the United States of America. It encompasses several areas such as aerospace, electronics, and nanotechnology, among many others, spreading the knowledge of technology throughout the world.
Student Branch
This organization is divided into several groups, from which our Student Branch emerges. Our members have great intellectual curiosity and desire to provide the academic community with the opportunity to obtain knowledge and soft skills through workshops, talks, meetings and network with companies.
We intend, as an organization in a university context, to contribute with ideas, knowledge and perspectives, always in a friendly and cooperative environment. The leaders of each committee aim for everyone to excel every day. We believe that by helping someone to be more, we will be much more too.

You can apply to be part of the student branch at the beginning of each semester during one of our recruitments, where we develop dynamics to welcome and integrate new members. Follow us on our social media to know exactly when they start.
Moreover, you can apply spontaneously anytime throughout the year, by simply contacting us through our contact form, email, or any of our social media platforms, which you can find further down on this page.
In order to enter, you need to be either an engennering or sciences student.
Please note that you need to be a student from the University of Minho to join our team. If you are part of another university, consider contacting the Student Branch in your university.
You get the opportunity to expand your network with students from various engineering fields, which helps you understand how interconnected these different areas really are.
Additionally, you’ll have contact with many companies throughout your journey with us, which provides you with several advantages in the job market.
Moreover, as a member, you become part of an international organization whose benefits extend beyond your academic experience and into your professional life.
As a member, you have the opportunity to be part of one or more of our departments. Within each department, you will help develop various activities throughout the year, both for the student branch and the broader academic community.
These activities can range from organizing workshops and company tours to managing the newsletter, running our social media platforms, and promoting events. Additionally, there are internal dynamics such as team days, barbecues, and training sessions.
It’s important to note that these activities are not fixed, and we encourage you to bring forth your ideas. In IEEE Uminho SB, you have the support and resources to transform any idea you have into reality. We welcome your creativity and initiative in shaping our Student Branch and its initiatives.
